Shelley Poovey is a Certified BodyTalk Practitioner as well as a certified instructor of Gyrotonic and Pilates. Her unique approach is a blend of intuitive bodywork and structural integration tailored to each individual she works with. Her goal as a practitioner is to help each person find attunement with their body, mind, and spirit in a way that is meaningful to them. She has been in private practice in New York since 2002.
Shelley received a B.S. Degree in Psychology from UNC-Chapel Hill with a focus in Mathematics and Anthropology and has nearly two decades of dance, movement, and teaching experience.
She has a deep interest human potential, especially how a movement-centered approach to healing creates deep transformation and helps support lasting changes. She has studied with neuro-muscular movement specialist Irene Dowd, Developmental embryology and Anatomy Trains concepts with Tom Myers, and Orthopedic Evaluation/Sports Medicine with Osteopath and Elite Athletic Trainer Kerry D’Ambrosio. Other dedicated practices include taijiquan, yoga, dance therapy, danzanryu jujitsu, and vipassana meditation.
